The new panel has been posted. The funeral of Zethus brings an end to the two-ruler kingship of Thebes. It will be attempted once more down the road. If you can believe it, the next time it will end even WORSE than this one did.

I have the first piece of art for the upcoming Laius sequence done. We’ll be getting there soon, so hold onto you pants!

Here’s the new panel. It is, once again, being posted late in the day, but that’s due to a busy schedule. All apologies.

I am now working on the art for the upcoming Laius sequence. It won’t be too long before we’re there, so I’m getting excited.

It’s late in the day, but here’s the new panel. We are now a third of the way through the Niobe sequence, and with only one dead child we are… significantly less than a third of the way through the total body count. The last act promises to be especially bloody!

So I have finished the art for 10 of the next 12 panels, so all of the rest of the panels in the sequence should post with no more such delays. Keep an eye out, and remember you can subscribe in your RSS feed using the button to the left!

Niobe 04, a bit ahead of schedule

Over here in central time it’s still a couple hours away from being Thursday… but here’s the new panel anyway, a few hours early. I’m dropping it ahead of schedule because tomorrow I’ll be heading down to Montgomery with the high schoolers to watch Henry VIII at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. That means getting there earlier than normal, which in turn means waking up earlier… so it’s post the panel now or tomorrow evening. Now it is.

In print comic news, there’s a bunch of new sci-fi comics on the stands; I’m reading Prophet and Saga, both put out by Image Comics. This stuff is way better than anything Marvel is currently doing.

Here’s niobe03. I did a lot of work on the website this weekend, in spite of being under the weather. I finished coloring an upcoming panel, sketched two more and updated the character index. Check back Thursday for the next panel.

Start of the Niobe Sequence

The Niobe sequence begins today, check out the first panel right here. I have a number of panels in the sequence already done, but the second panel in the sequence is not one of them! So I’m off to start the art for that. Check back Thursday!

Last panel in the Amphion & Zethus sequence!

The new panel, the twenty-fifth in the current sequence is also the last. Here we see the fruits of Amphion’s and Zethus’ labors: the city of Thebes with its famous seven gates. This panel took a long time to do, but it’s been done for months. In fact, it was the first one I completed in calendar year 2012. As they say: woo-hoo.

Monday we start the Niobe sequence. Niobe is not a member of the House of Thebes by blood (she marries in), but her story belongs here rather than with her father Tantalus. Hope you all are as excited about it as I am.

Here’s the new panel, which shows Amphion and Zethus building the walls of Thebes. There is only one panel left in the sequence. This time next week we’ll be starting the Niobe sequence.

Hard to believe it’s already April, what happened to March?
